FMCSA Revokes 12 ELDs — Check Your Device Before the Deadline

FMCSA has removed 12 devices from its list of registered electronic logging devices (ELDs). When a device is revoked, the agency gives motor carriers a limited window — generally 60 days — to move to a compliant ELD from the registered list.

After the deadline, a driver still running a revoked device is in violation of 49 CFR 395.8(a)(1), and can be placed out of service under the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) Out-of-Service Criteria. An out-of-service driver means a stopped truck and a hit to your safety record.

What to do now: pull up the Registered ELDs list on FMCSA's site and confirm your exact device and firmware version is still listed. If it has moved to the Revoked list, start the switch immediately — reinstalling and retraining across a fleet takes time.
