FMCSA pulls TRUCKSTAFF ELD from the registered list; carriers have until August 23

On June 23, 2026, FMCSA removed TRUCKSTAFF ELD from its list of registered electronic logging devices. The stated reason is the provider's failure to meet the minimum requirements in 49 CFR Part 395, Subpart B, Appendix A — the technical specification every self-certified ELD is supposed to satisfy.

Carriers using the device are directed to stop relying on it and to record hours of service on paper logs or logging software in the meantime, and to replace it with a device from the current Registered Devices list before August 23, 2026. FMCSA gives motor carriers up to 60 days to make the replacement.

During that window, FMCSA has encouraged safety officials not to cite drivers for using the revoked device; instead, officers should ask for paper logs, logging software records, or use the ELD display as a back-up to review hours-of-service data. Beginning August 23, 2026, a carrier still running the revoked device is considered to be operating without an ELD.

This is not the first removal of 2026 — FMCSA has revoked a number of self-certified devices this year — and the pattern is the same each time: a short public notice, a 60-day clock, and full enforcement afterward.
