2026 International Roadcheck Is Underway — What Inspectors Are Looking At

The CVSA International Roadcheck — the largest coordinated roadside inspection event in North America — is running again this year. Over three days, inspectors carry out tens of thousands of inspections, most of them the thorough Level I check of both the vehicle and the driver.

Inspectors apply the North American Standard Out-of-Service Criteria. The perennial vehicle flags are brakes, tires, lights, and load securement; on the driver side it's hours-of-service records, license and medical status, and — since 2025 — English language proficiency, which CVSA added to its out-of-service criteria.

A truck placed out of service during Roadcheck sits until the violation is corrected, and the result lands on your CSA score. The carriers who breeze through are the ones whose paperwork and pre-trip discipline are already in order on a normal Tuesday — not the ones scrambling the week of.
